چکیده

This paper presents a method of computing efficient and naturallooking motions for humanoid robots walking on varied terrain. It uses a small set of high-quality motion primitives (such as a fixed gait on flat ground) that have been generated offline. But rather than restrict motion to these primitives, it uses them to derive a sampling strategy for a probabilistic, sample-based planner. Results in simulation on several different terrains demonstrate a reduction in planning time and a marked increase in motion quality.

A Low Friction Demanding Approach in Gait Planning for Humanoid Robots During 3D Manoeuvres

This paper proposes a gait planning approach to reduce the required friction for a biped robot walking on various surfaces. To this end, a humanoid robot with 18 DOF is considered to develop a dynamics model for studying various 3D manoeuvres. Then, feasible trajectories are developed to alleviate the fluctuations on the upper body to resemble human-like walking. In order to generate feasible w...

PSO-Based Path Planning Algorithm for Humanoid Robots Considering Safety

In this paper we introduce an improvement in the path planning algorithm for the humanoid soccer playing robot which uses Ferguson splines and PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization). The objective of the algorithm is to find a path through other playing robots to the ball, which should be as short as possible and also safe enough. Ferguson splines create preliminary paths using random generated para...

Humanoid Navigation Strategy Using Fuzzy Motion Planner in a Uneven Smart Home Environment

This paper presents a fuzzy motion planner for humanoid robots in complex uneven environments. First, we define locomotion primitives for humanoid robots. A high-level planner finds a global path from a global navigation map that is generated based on a combination of 2.5 dimensional maps of the 3D workspace. A mid-level planner creates waypoints that help the robot efficiently cope with variou...

Motion Planning for Legged Robots on Varied Terrain

This paper studies the quasi-static motion of large legged robots that have many degrees of freedom. While gaited walking may suffice on easy ground, rough and steep terrain requires unique sequences of footsteps and postural adjustments specifically adapted to the terrain’s local geometric and physical properties. This paper presents a planner that computes these motions by combining graph sea...

Motion Planning for Legged and Humanoid Robots a Dissertation Submitted to the Department of Computer Science and the Committee on Graduate Studies of Stanford University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy

Legged vehicles have attracted interest for many high-mobility applications, such as military troop support and logistics in rocky, steep, and forested terrain, scientific exploration of cliffs, mountains, and volcanoes on earth and other planets, and search and rescue. Humanoid robots have additional applications in homes and offices as personal assistants. But planning and controlling their m...
